Activities Carried Out
Three main strands of research have been developed in the biomedical field. The first involves the search for biological markers useful for diagnosing and monitoring chronic diseases, particularly in the field of cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as oncological diseases.
The second strand focuses on the implementation of telemedicine systems, which enable remote monitoring of patients with these diseases. Finally, the third strand deals with theuse of 3D models, which offer an innovative approach to rehabilitation-related diseases.
In addition, special emphasis is given to studies related to theinteraction between nutrition and well-being, through the evaluation of effects related to theexposure of simple cell and organoid models to specific substances extracted from products under investigation in the agri-food chain. In this context, the interaction with Tuscia researchers involved in the analysis of products from the local food chain will allow us to verify the effects on “in vitro” models and evaluate their relativeefficacy.
These multidisciplinary approaches are critical to advancing the understanding and treatment of complex diseases.
